I've been helping parents in the Lansing area by providing care for their children starting before birth by supporting their gentle birth as a birth doula, helping them reach their breastfeeding goals as a La Leche League leader, and caring for them in my Lansing-based home daycare. I am a Christian and have been married to my wonderful and supportive husband, Jason for 9 years (together for 13 years). We have three beautiful children; Xander (5/2003), Hayden (6/2005), and Hanna (2/2007). I was uninformed during my first birth and had no extra support. The result of this was a birth full of interventions that left me full of regret that it was not the birth I wanted. Learning from that experience, my second and third births were empowering experiences, both completely natural and intervention-free. All three births were in a hospital. I have always had a passion for children and mothering. Being the oldest grandchild on my mother's side of the family and the third oldest on my father's side, I grew up helping care for my younger cousins. I also helped care for my younger sister and much younger brother, too. Now, I love helping mothers achieve their birth and breastfeeding goals and taking care of children, teaching them and watching them grow. I was a working mom, until
Xander was 16 months old (October 2004). I wasn’t fulfilled by my current
job, so I opened my home to other children. This has been one of the best decisions I've made. I have
an Associates degree in general education, with an interest in business and
music. While in college I was involved in private lessons and the Lansing
Concert Band. Once in a while I'll play my flute and piccolo for the kids. It’s a great introduction to music and they
love it! I maintain CPR and First Aid training, and attend many workshops
and trainings about different aspects of child care and child development. I received my Child Development Accreditation (CDA) Certificate from Lansing Community College in the Fall of 2011.
